Procurve 5412ZL causing ports to "cycle" up and down

Hi All,

We have a Procurve 5412ZL switch , and when I plug some machines / devices into the switch the network card keeps going up and down..
E.G (from my linux workstation)

tg3: Eth0: Link is down
tg3: Eth0: Link is up at 1000Mbps
tg3: Eth0: Link is down
tg3: Eth0: Link is up at 1000Mbps

This has been seen to happen with Intelcards m the tg3 in my workstation and a voip phone... the only way i can get the port to stay up is to manual force the port into 100mb but I can not manually set it to be 1000mb which I need on this machine.. any one seen anything like this?

Thanks

Brett

Hi,

I might have the same situation here on a 5406zl. Haven't digged into it yet, but it seems similar:

That sounds like what we are getting, i know this may sound a bit of a stupid question.. but how did u get those logs? and can you watch it in realtime?

Hello BM,

You can obtain and see the log from the CLI by issueing the command:

switch# show log

For real-time observation, you'll need to go to the menu structure. In the main menu, press 4 (event-log). When in the submenu, use the arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight "end" and press return. Any new entry is then seen real-time.

Hope this helps.
