Procurve 6200 Fibre Switch Trunking

Hi,

I currently have two Procurve 6200 fibre switches in an existing infrastructure or Cisco routers. Is it possible using a GBIC with these switches to perform dot1q trunking for VLANS using the Cisco Router?

Many thanks in advanced,
Richard

Hi

This should work just fine.

Configure your vlan trunk on the cisco side. On the procurve side simply make all vlans tagged member of the port.

Remember a trunk is something very different in Procurve terms.

Try the following doc:

Thank you very much for your response.

That document looks very helpful.

So just to confirm....I should be ok purchasing some GBIC's (J8177B) making all VLANS go through this port as tagged on the HP switch and then connect this to an existing Cisco router which will I will configure subinterfaces on the port for VLAN routing using Dot1Q.

Many thanks again,
Richard
