Procurve manager question

Hi,

Im trying to get procurve manager to send alarms when devices are not reachable anymore!
is that possible?

I've tried the policy manager to send emails for various tasks, and thats works perfectly!

But when devices go down there is noting logged in the eventviewer and noting to trig a mail send!

*****************************************

yes this is possible

you can create event based alert and alert include loss of link and you make configure send email action

But when devices go down there is noting logged in the eventviewer and noting to trig a mail send!
*****************************************
very normaly device go to down no send event

but
1.device connect to (with int26uplink )2.device (with int26)

device1 int26 int25 device 2
***********-------------------*********
*********** *********

if you can create evet base alert
alert include must be loss of link on port 26
device 2 go to down device 1 send event and trigger policy

Re: Procurve manager question

Procurve manager shows the device as unreachable but can't send an alarm about this state????
this seems strange for a monitoring application

Re: Procurve manager question

No event is logged in event viewer when devices become unreachable!
I have the latest PCM +2.3

Is there some trick that needs to be done to get an unreachable event?

Re: Procurve manager question

switch is unreachable send by other switch event to pcm

you can test ;one switch disconnect on network and you see event log on pcm server

this event message
Stack member lost warning Communication with the specified switch has been lost. The
address is unreachable.
RMON_FF_UNREACHABLE_STACK_MEMBER

Re: Procurve manager question

but you take fristly loss connection on port (uplink port) message

my advice you use loss connection event

switch unreachable event more slowly arrive on event page

Re: Procurve manager question

My switches is'nt stacked. -so i will not get the lost member in my eventlog!

furthermore i have several remote locations with only one switch.
I would like to get notified when those become unreachable! so link up/link down on neighboring device won't work on those locations either!

any other suggestions?
