Procurve vlan question

Hello

We have multiple 2900 Series 48g switches. 3 in one building and 2 in another with a single fibre link between them.

What I want to configure is two vlans, the default one for normal network use, and a second one for visitors only. What I need is for both to share the same fibre link to cross the buildings and then to seperate off either side. Something like this...

default_vlan \ /default_vlan
single fibre
Visitor vlan / \Visitor vlan

Both will have independnant gateways and neither will need to see the other (whole point is that visitors dont see our network)

Is this possible?

Thanks

Re: Procurve vlan question

Yes. Simply create the VLANs where necessary and set the ports between the switches to be tagged members of both.

Re: Procurve vlan question

yes Morphius this is possible

please look my example config
int 28 your fibre link

switch 1

vlan 1
name "DEFAULT_VLAN"
untagged 1-17,23-28
no untagged 18-22
ip address 10.0.10.1 255.255.255.0
exit
vlan 2
name "VLAN2"
untagged 18-22
tagged 28
exit

switch 2

vlan 1
name "DEFAULT_VLAN"
untagged 1-19,23-28
no untagged 20-22
ip address 10.0.10.2 255.255.255.0
exit
vlan 2
name "VLAN2"
