REALLY disable spanning tree on 2524 - disregard previous, 8524 is typo

I need to turn off spanning tree on an 2524.

The menu-driven interface says it is disabled. However, the CLI says it is enabled:

spanning-tree protocol-version stp
spanning-tree 1-24 mode fast

How do I really turn it off? I've configured a second VLAN on the switch, and it looks like it is disabling ports on that VLAN due to spanning tree.

TIA,

Les...

Use this command line :
1. Be in enable & config mode
2. show spanning-tree config (shows you how is your config)
3. no spanning tree (turns off spanning tree)

HP edited a good command line reference manual, you can download it from here :

Is there one for the 5300xl?
If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.

Hwee,

The commands for new ProCurves are same, so it should understand the same command.

Another way to do it is to go to the menu (command menu), in Main Menu choose option 2 (Switch Configuration) and in the next menu choose option 4 (Spanning Tree Operation). On "STP Enabled" choose NO.
