RSTP

Hi,
I have some procurve 2524 connected to two HP9304M layer3 switches.
I'd like to use RSTP instead of traditional STP to increase convergence times.
I enabled RSTP on all switches but during tests I see always convergence times about 30 seconds (as STP).
Where can I indagate furtherly?
Where are docs about RSTP?

Thanks

Re: RSTP

Make sure you have the latest software for all of the switches involved.

http://www.hp.com/rnd/software/switches.htm

Release notes for F.04.08 for the 2524 switch should have something on it since 802.1w support was introduced with that release.

Do not forget to set your edge ports to fast mode.

Re: RSTP

Someone from HP support told me that HP9300 routing switches doesn't support IEEE
802.1w RSTP.

Is it true? I think no.
For istance, I'm able to see the command:
'spanning-tree single rstp'

Re: RSTP

Per their docs it does:

http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/index.htm

Then click on ProCurve product portfolio at-a-glance flyer under Selection Advice.

The blurb on the 9300 says it supports RSTP based on 802.1w.

I can't say whether it really works tho. It is also interesting that in the Manual under Standards there is no mention of 802.1w tho they do mention 802.1p and q.
