Redundancy between 3500yl and 3400cl

Hello Guys,
I have two procurve L3 switches: 3500yl and 3400cl.
I want to configure them in such a way that when one switch fails other switch takes over.
The problem is that 3500yl supports VRRP and 3400cl supports XRRP. These two protocols are not compatible with each other.
Can you guys suggest me any other way to configure those for Redundancy?

For L3 redundancy (VRRP or XRRP), you won't be able to do it mixing these two products. You'll need to have the same of either model.

If you want just L2 redundancy, you can use spanning-tree or meshing on these products which will interoperate.

It seems that i have to buy a new switch then.
What do you guys suggest?
Is 3400cl is better option because of the XRRP support?
