Reg VLAN

Dear All,

We have 2 HP Procurve 2650 switches. This is connected as default with arround 85 systems.
We are connected one of the switch directly with firewall. In this same firewall we configured a DHCP server also.

Other than this we have ADS server and MAIL server. All above are in the network of 192.168.0.0/24 network.

Now we want to create a VLAN for 30 Systems.

I created a VLAN in one of the switch with network 192.168.1.0/24. But it is not routing with other than the local 192.168.1.0 network.

If any body have the solution please reply.

Thanks in Advance.

Re: Reg VLAN

You need to enable IP routing on the switch by using the "ip routing" command.

Re: Reg VLAN

You will need to enable IP routing on both switches.

As mentioned, you need routing on the switch with the new VLAN. However, If the new VLAN only exists on one switch, then the second switch does have a route to this network. You will need to add a static route to the second switch for the 192.168.1.0/24 network that points to the 192.168.0.0/24 address of switch that has the new VLAN.

The other way is to define this new VLAN on the second switch, give it an IP address, enable routing, then make connecting ports between the two switches tagged.
Trust me, I know what I'm doing
