Replacing fan on HP 8000M switch

Hello, we have a few switches on our network reporting fan failures. The replacement fan trays have been ordered - however, can anyone tell me the procedure for replacing the faulty fan?

Thanks.

Re: Replacing fan on HP 8000M switch

1) remove power supply 1

2) remove power supply 2 if u have a
redundant

3) remove Switch Engine Module

4) examining the fan assy, you will see how
it's powered.

5) from the front of the switch, disconnect
the power supply connector

6) unscrew the old fan assy

7) replace with new fan assy
If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.

Neil,

If you get the new Fan TRays an installation guide should be included. If not please reply and I will supply it to you.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated.

I took apart one of our spare switches, just to practise, so I have a good idea whats required now!
