Reset admin password on Compaq SW5450 switch

We have a Compaq SW5450 switch but the administrator password is not known,
I connect terminal to the serial connection and manage to start with the Bootrom
then use Force default configuration and Boot FLASH image (Version 2.1.8 (Build 2))
I still when prompt for login using admin it’s require a password.
Can you please help.

The default username is 'admin' and the default password is blank, i.e.

I just purchased one of these switches and I can't get into the admin account either. What is the reset procedure for this unit? I have a tech background, but very little networking background (only SOHO stuff), FYI.

I can get into the user account, but from what the manual says, that won't let me do much. I'd like to wipe it and start from scratch.
