I am trying to route between 2 vlans on a 2824. I created 2 vlans with vlan ip 192.168.1.1/24 on one vlan and 192.168.4.1/24 on the other vlan. I enabled routing. Problem is this. A client on the 192.168.4.0 network can ping the vlan interface 192.168.1.1 , so routing is working but it cannot ping anything else in that subnet. I tried using proxy arp but ended up with the same problem. Am I missing something ?

Solution
Hi
- Check the Gateway of the clients in each Vlans, it should be their Vlan IP address.
- Check if the clients has any firewall enabled.
- in some scenarios, people enable IP routing on ProCurve switches, and set the Gateway of clients to a Firewall or a Router, and this is also fine but they have to add a route back for each Vlan.
Check previous points, and if you can attach the config of your switch 2824 so we look together in the matter.
Good Luck !!!

Re: Routing between VLANS in a procurve 2824
Thanks for the reply. I found the problem. The host I was trying to ping was pointing to the old gateway ... It's working fine now
