Routing on between 2 vlans on a 2824

Hi people I hope you can help me with this.
We currently have 1 subnet 192.168.20.0/24
and we would like to add another to expand the network I have a spare 2824 which I have been using for testing and I have setup a sperate vlan.
When I configure the clients default gateway to the ip address of the switch both vlans can happly talk to each other. however this is going to cause me a problem as the current default gateway is are firewall/proxy server
is there any way to allow comunication between both vlans without setting the default gateway on the client to the switch.

Please see the current config. (please note the 192.168.20.242 address was setup to allow manament access not for routing)

ip routing
vlan 1
name "DEFAULT_VLAN"
untagged 1-3,21-24
IP address 192.168.20.242 255.255.255.0
no untagged 4-20
exit
Vlan 3
name "VLan3"
untagged 4-20
ip address 192.168.21.0 255.255.255.0
exit

Thank you

Re: Routing on between 2 vlans on a 2824

Hi

If you want the firewall to be involved in the routing between these Vlans, then no need to enable routing on the 2800.

But if you want the 2800 to the do the routing, then the gateway should be the Vlan IP Address, and you have to add a route back for the other Vlan on the firewall.

Good Luck !!!
