SAN Switch ASIC 4-port group

Can someone refer me to information or describe exactly what a 4-port ASIC group is on HP/Brocade 2/32, 4/32, and 4/16 SAN Switches is?

Re: SAN Switch ASIC 4-port group

PRobly you refer to that 4 ports are bonded to one ASIC and from there to the backplane.
And the oversubscription you have from the asic and the backplane.

so a 4 port asic group is not more then 4 ports who are grouped on one asic (chip who is doing the switching).

On a 16 port switch, ports 0 to 3, 4 to 7, 8 to 11, and 12 to 15 are grouped together.
