Spanning tree config between Cisco & HP 5412 switch

Spanning tree config between Cisco & HP 5412 switch

Hi All,

we have cisco 3750 as core & HP 5412 as access switch.

we have configured Mstp in core switch & RSTP in access switch.
core switch:
spanning-tree mode mst
spanning-tree portfast bpduguard default
spanning-tree extend system-id
!
spanning-tree mst configuration
revision 5
instance 1 vlan 1-255
!
spanning-tree mst 0 priority 20480
spanning-tree mst 1 priority 24576

HP switch:

spanning-tree
spanning-tree Trk1 priority 4
spanning-tree Trk2 priority 4
spanning-tree instance 1 vlan 1-255
spanning-tree instance 1 priority 15
spanning-tree instance 1 Trk1 priority 4
spanning-tree instance 1 Trk2 priority 4
spanning-tree force-version rstp-operation

the above config runs for more then 4 months suddenly one day one of the HP access switch 5412 hags we are not able to ping the switch, even we have rebooted the switch but no luck, two uplink which goes to the core switch both in blocking stage.

then we have taken the console of the swithc then we have changed the HP switch config as below

spanning-tree
spanning-tree Trk1 priority 4
spanning-tree Trk2 priority 4
spanning-tree config-name "MLR"
spanning-tree config-revision 5
spanning-tree instance 1 vlan 1-255
spanning-tree instance 1 priority 15
spanning-tree instance 1 Trk1 priority 15
spanning-tree instance 1 Trk2 priority 15
spanning-tree priority 15

then switch start pinging till now we have not faced any issue.

we have totally 4 HP 5412 switches in that we have changed only one switch config remaining are in RSTP.
1.my queation is why only this switch is faced this issue since all other switches has same config.
2.can we configure mstp in core switch & rstp in access switch ?
3.what spaning tree we have to configure in the Core cisco switch & access HP 5412 switch.
4.what changes i have to do in config to reduce this type of issue in future.

can any one pls suggets on this....
