Stack Members not asking for password when logging in

I have given my stack members an IP address for some administration. If I ssh/telnet to the switch it automatically logs me in. If I ssh/telnet to the commander it ask for my username and password. If I try to set a password on the member it tells me that I can not set a password on a member switch

Which switches and what firmware version are you using? I've tried it myself and my member switches follow the same password that the commander has.

ok strange, this morning all my switches ask for my username and password. These are 2650 with H.07.02, my commander is a 4108.
