Re: Syslog server for swithces HP procure
Hi and gee I think you both mean PROCURVE. Not procure nor proCUTE.
Note that there are many PROCURVE models, ie, 1900, 2500, 3500, etc. Got to have this information as well.
Adding a Description for a Syslog Server
You can associate a user-friendly description with each of the IP addresses (IPv4 only) configured
for syslog using the CLI or SNMP. The CLI command is:
Syntax: logging control-descr ]
no logging [control-descr]
For example
ProCurve(config)# logging 10.10.10.2 control-descr syslog_one
http://www.procurve.com/docs/products/releasenotes/RelNotes-K1409.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Re: Syslog server for swithces HP procure
I think the question is about what server software people are using.
We're using Kiwi Syslog Daemon (but that's because we're mostly a Windows environment) and I find it quite useful.
You can use it to setup alerts based on events in syslogs and it handles rolling over and archiving of logs quite well.
