Trunking Question

When trunking across procurve switches 5406zl, do you have to trunk on the same module (ie. A23 & A24) or can you trunk between modules (ie. B1 & C1)? THe reason why I ask is when I map my network after trunking between modules I see 3 connections, the Trunk and the 2 connections that make up the trunk.

I have a trunk set on the same module on another trunk and it only shows the 2 connections. weird! :)

Re: Trunking Question

basic trunking "rules"

a) no more than 8 ports in a static trunk
b) should be same media and speed
c) ports in a trunk group can be on different blades

when running a 'show lldp info remote' you will see the individual port connections that are in a trunk group

when running a 'show interface brief' , 'show spanning-tree', you will see the trunk interface instead of individual ports...

basically, a trunk "assimilates" individual ports :-)
