Two 2650 switches stacking as one
I researching on buying a couple of switches for my network. Currently looking at Procurve 2650, 4148gl, and the cisco 2950g. My question is can two procurve 2650 switches stack as one switch? Is there any special cascade cable required?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Two 2650 switches stacking as one
funny you should ask I have been looking at this myself. I will be using a netgear option FSM726S which supports stacking, the stacking cable comes with each switch. i'm not sure about the HP Procurve options but have a look at this link. I thought it was quite useful.

Re: Two 2650 switches stacking as one
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/59906023e01-Mgmt-ch15-Stacking.pdf is a very good read. It tells you which switches support stacking and what it takes to stack them.
If a problem can be fixed, there's nothing to worry. If a problem can't be fixed, worrying ain't gonna help. Bottom line: don't worry.

Re: Two 2650 switches stacking as one
Hi,
Stacking means: interconnecting Backplanes otherwise it should be called Cascading which mean you daisy chain the switches.
There is no REAL stacking kit. Interconnecting 2 2650 or 4148 does not require a special cable as both switches support Auto-MDI-X.
