Re: UPS for Procurve 3500yl
APC have a UPS selector on their website based on load, etc. but the 3500yl is not in their list of devices.
http://www.apc.com/sizing/selectors.cfm
Power information regarding the 3500yl is here:

Italian AROS is also good - we use 2 load-balanced AROS monsters in the server room, and until now we had NO problem.

Re: UPS for Procurve 3500yl
UPS for 3500yl or any other switch you can check any UPS from any vendor
And what you really care about is the electricity and power specification for this product 3500yl to design a good UPS system, and this you can find here:
http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/switches/ProCurve_Switch_3500yl-5400zl_Series/specs.htm#elecChar
There are redundant power supply solution from ProCurve:
http://www.hp.com/rnd/accessories/J8696A/accessory.htm
And there is a PoE plan if you want to have a good plan for PoE on the switch ports:
http://www.hp.com/rnd/pdfs/poe_planning_implementation.pdf
Good Luck !!!

Re: UPS for Procurve 3500yl
I normaly take UPS from APC.
In this case I wanted to know what special type is needed. The UPS selector shows me threee alternatives. Minimum is 1400 VA. Max is 3300VA. All are SmartUPS.
As we also use PoE with our procurve and a WebCam I will read the manual concerning this topic.
