VLAN or ACL Subnetting Question

I need to setup 3 switches connected to each other via Fiber, to host some security cameras, and i would like for the cameras to be able to talk with eachother but not go through my main network, But i still need to be able to access these cameras from my main network, to view and maintain the cameras. Can this be done? Please advise Thanks.

Re: VLAN or ACL Subnetting Question

your info is very brief.

the answer depends on the components used.
some switches cannot do acl's, other only port-based acl's.
if you use the switches to forward only vlan's and a dedicated router to forward between cam-vlan and main-network. you'll have the most control.

but why sould cam's talk to eachother?

Re: VLAN or ACL Subnetting Question

well i do not mean talk to each other, but be on the same network and be able to see one and the other.

the switches i'm using are 3 pro curve's
2 are 2610's and the last one is a 2910
i don't have a dedicated router per say, i'd rather not use acl, since i am not to familiar with that i just read on a forum somewhere it would be a good way to go, let me know what the best practice would be thanks again Pieter.
