VLAN problem with cisco router used for inter-vlan

Please if someone can give be idea, how do i configure vlan in 5406zl switch...
i have created three vlan
one for client, server other one is default
my client address is 192.168.112.1/22
And server is 192.168.108.1/22
and default vlan is where i have my cisco router connected for intervlan

i have problem client in server vlan connecting to router in default vlan

ip have "ip routing" enabled with
default gateway:192.168.161.100

default vlan 1
ip address:192.168.161.1/24
untagged:A1-A4
Tagged: A4-A24, B1-B24

vlan 112 (client )is using A4-24
ip address: 192.168.112.1/22
untagged: A4-A24

vlan 108 (SERVER )is using B1-B24
ip address: 192.168.108.1/22
untagged:B1-B24

I have cisco router
with configuration with fasterthernet 0/1
ip route 192.168.0.0/24 172.x.x.1



Here with this scenario i am able to ping from client vlan to router but not from server vlan to router.. 192.168.161.100
from the switch i can ping all the vlan ip address...

Before this i was having 3com switch all was configuration working fine...

Please advise..

Hi,
you need a route at the cisco(192.168.161.100 i guess)
ip route 192.168.108.0 255.255.252.0 192.168.161.1
and the default gateway for your servers should be
192.168.108.1.

the statement "default gateway 192.168.161.100" is ignored!
(default gateway setting is only used when switch is not routing itself)

use "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.161.100" instead.

i have tried with alex and pieter configuration ... but unfortunetly none works with me...
i have narrowed down the issue.. this issue only from HP switch..
here i put my hp and cisco configuration...
for your reference..

my problem is getting out from switch.. like i mentioned earlier ... i have three vlans.. server, client and default...client and servers are not able to reach router connected in default vlan...
your help is hihgly appriciated...

here is HP switch..

ip default-gateway 192.168.161.100

vlan 1 (deafult-vlan)
ip address 192.168.161.1

Hi,
what is the default gateway for your servers?
it should be 192.168.108.1.
Can you ping the 192.168.108.1 and the other ip's of the hp switch from the servers.

yes i can ping stations from on same vlan... but not other systems in other vlan...
client gateway is 192.168.112.1 and server vlan is 192.168.108.1...
i can ping all the the ip address of vlan...
including default vlan ip address is 192.168.161.1
but not default gateway...192.168.161.100

ok then. can you ping the switch ip's from the router? if not try a traceroute to find the node where the ping doesn't continue.

let's take this in steps.

- you connect a server to any port from B1-B24
- give it an adress 192.168.108.x/24
=> you should be able to ping 192.168.108.1

next :

- you connect a client to any port from A4-A24
- give it an adress 192.168.112.x/24
=> you should be able to ping 192.168.112.1

- you have "ip routing" configured on the switch
- on the server configure a default gateway 192.168.108.1
=> you should be able to ping from a server to other adresses on the switch (like 192.168.112.1)
- on the client configure a default gateway 192.168.112.1
=> you should be able to ping from a client to other adresses on the switch (like 192.168.108.1)
=> you should be able to ping from a server to a client

NB! The cisco router is not involved yet.
if this doesn't work it's within this switch only.
we'll look at this router later.

the clients and servers on this ports dont handle tagged packets so don't send vlan1 tagged packets to these ports.

It is very clearly explained, i did verify main configuration to be the same , and tried. But no luck with me...

As i have mentioned my only problem i am not able to ping other VLAN,
The statation from same vlan has its IP addres has gateway...
192.168.112.1/22 as its client gateway..and
192.168.108.1/22 as server vlan gateway.... all they ping fine, but not other station in other vlan...

i think i may be missing with little basic configuration...

let me know how i can trunk the switch port..
and say enacpsulation...even i tried switch port to be trunk port. i think enacapsulation is all read mentioned as 802.1q : vlan ID
"trunk ethernet A1-A4 TRK1 Trunk"

i would like to mention.. cisco router is working fine with 3com configuration... since it was menu base i cannot really detail all the configuration..

Please suggest me ...
How i can configure a HP 5204ZL switch with CISCO router for vlan routing...

No.
Cisco's term trunk does refer to vlan's
The HP term "trunk" corrsponds to "etherchannel", no vlans' involved.

at the hp-side to connect multiple vlans
you need :
vlan 112
tagged TRK1
vlan 108
tagged TRK1
