VLAN procurve switch 5300xl and 4200vl

Hello,

I configured VLANs with a hp procurve 5300xl and a 4200vl switch. The switches are connected over two connections (GBIC-modules).

Switch: 5300xl 4200vl
1. Connection:
VLAN Default LML30 WARA Default LML
Untagged No No Untagged No
Port F24 A15

2. Connection
VLAN Default LML30 WARA Default LML
No Untagged No No Untagged
Port F23 D15

Now I have a connection in VLAN default but
there is no connection in VLAN LML30!
What is wrong?

Re: VLAN procurve switch 5300xl and 4200vl

hi peter

you must be connect

4200switch f24 to 5300 swich e15 for vlan 1
4200 switch f23 to 5300 switch e16 for vlan 2

Re: VLAN procurve switch 5300xl and 4200vl

but
my advice two gigabit port trunk config on each switch

for examle
on 4200 f14-f14 trk 1
on 5300 e14-e15 trk 1

and create trk 1 interface each switch
connect trunk port this two switch

trk 1 port must be
vlan 1 untag member on switches
all other vlan taging member

for example

on 4200 switch trk 1 interface vlan 1 untagged and vlan 2 tagged member

on 5300 switch trk 1 interface vlan 1 untag member and vlan 2 tagged member

in this way each vlan carying same interface with redundancy

Re: VLAN procurve switch 5300xl and 4200vl

Your first suggestion does not works:
on 4200 switch F23 interface vlan 1 no and vlan 2 untagged member
to
on 5300 switch D15 interface vlan 1 no and vlan 2 untagged and vlan 2 no member

and

on 4200 switch F24 interface vlan 1 untagged and vlan 2 no member
to
on 5300 switch A15 interface vlan 1 untagged and vlan 2 tagged and vlan 2 tagged member

I have a connection in vlan 1, but not in vlan 2. I don't want to configure a trunk.

Re: VLAN procurve switch 5300xl and 4200vl

you can must be for vlan 1 connection each switch connect between vlan 1 untag port

and each switch connect between vlan 2 untag port

very easy

you say not connect vlan 2 what you mean
if I can true understand

vlan 2 member pc must be connect vlan 2 untag port

vlan 1 member pc must be connect vlan 1 untag port

Re: VLAN procurve switch 5300xl and 4200vl

Yes, I tried this first. But there is no connection in vlan2:

4200 F23 vlan1:no vlan2:untagged
to
5300 D15 vlan1:no vlan2:untagged vlan3:no

and

4200 F24 vlan1:untagged vlan2:no
to
5300 A15 vlan1:untagged vlan2:no vlan3:no
