VLAN's with static IP's
I am setting up a wireless VLAN with an HP ProCurve 1800-8G, US Robotics 5453 Professional Access point and a Chilibox server. The Chilibox DHCP server does not support VLANS (802.1q) Can I move the network to static IP's and create the VLANS succesfully? Or please provide any work arounds to make this setup work. The goal is to create a public guest internet connection. Thanks in advance. Joe G.

Re: VLAN's with static IP's
Hi
I don't think you even want a Static IP for the ProCurve 1800-8G switch, what you can do is just assign a static IP for the Access Point, and default Gateway to the router.
And if you want to use this setup with an existing network and you want to separate Guests from your Network, then Vlans is the solution.
But do you think its a good idea to assign a static IP for Guests ?
Good Luck !!!

Re: VLAN's with static IP's
Hi, thanks for the response. In answer to your question no, I want dynamic IP's for all. I'm thinking I can create a reserve on the DHCP server for the 1800 and USR5453. What do you think?
Thanks
