VRRP i.p intermittent ping
Hi
I have a vrrp setup with owner and backup. all access layer switches are connected to each core with 20Gig trunk. All the switches are of 5412 with 12:57 flash. i do regular ping check of the VRRP i.p which is my gateway from all the machines. I see intermittent Ping fail / packet loss on ping from machines randomly. but traffic works. I have checked stp and no change on it , checked vrrp and master was master for long days. what could be the problem of this intemittency.

Re: VRRP i.p intermittent ping
Hi Libras
as far as I know VRRP is not very responsive at any ICMP protocol (Ping included). I mean to ping a virtual IP is not a good test, better one is to check if routing is working or not.
Any case I think there is a newer 5400zl firmware version (K.13.25). Maybe it solves your problem
