XRRP on two 3400cl switches - redundancy question

I have a scenario with two 3400cl switches. The two 3400 switches each have one connection into another unmanaged switch(unknown vendor). The users connected to the unmanaged switch will be using the two 3400cl switches as gateways, 3400cl-01 is has a vlan 50 interface 10.10.0.1 and the 3400cl-02 is 10.10.0.2. The vlan 50 is then untagged on the interface going to the unmanaged switches. So the 3400cl's will do routing and provide xrrp failover. The one question I have is that each 3400cl has 20 switch ports. If I configure one of the switchports for a pc on vlan 50, that pc will not be able to take advantage of the failover and if the vlan 50 connection to the unmanaged switch where to go down on that switch, i don't think users could browse the network. Is this correct?
