armada 7400 6333/T/6.4/D/M/1 i got for e-mail; modem test; local echo test failed
I got a hand me down Armada (free) for 56k e-mail while on the road. 128 meg mem. serial mouse on com1.
control panel>modems>the com port is com3.
I can't get a dial tone.
compaq utility test said modem1: Local Echo Test: Test failed. I noticed this test was done 5 times goihg back to 2000 and back then there was the first failure on the test. Error code 012001003
Data Corruption.
CPQ diag. ver. PC10.32B> view device list> there is no modem listed.
pressing F10 on reboot>inspect>retrieving modem information (took more than 5 minutes) > among others; command echo - disabled, connection protocol - CCITT
The battery is shot, AC works fine.
in "my computer", dial up netwoking does not come up. in explorer, clicking on DUN causes the highlite to " bounce off" and return to where I clicked from.
Finally, I have win95 ver. 4.00.950C, IE 5.5.
I have no cd drive, only a floppy drive, as i said, it was a hand me down, so I can only boot up one 1.44 mb disk.
How can I fix a local echo test failure with only a floppy drive, no manuals and no software?
would SP9962.exe do any good?
Thanks so much,
Mark S
