I haven't seen this, if you can reproduce it each time you should contact HP support about it.

I'll get in touch with HP, this switch is 3 days old... I must admit I wasn't expecting any crash from a 5400 (I just powered off an awful 4104GL) but here we are.

thank you

P.S. Early adopters of new f***'n technology always suffer.

Re: big issues with 5406 K.12.51 and ACLs

Firmware K.12.51 should be avoided, IMNSHO. The problem we are having with it is that just a single 512Mb/s UDP Jumbo stream will cause the J8706A module to have 99% CPU load and > 50% packet loss - three such streams can actually cause the module to crash. This problem was introduced in pre-release K.12.48 but despite our loud warnings, did make it into the production release. We have had this issue open with HP for over a month, but I've not seen any progress so far. We've reverted back to K.12.25 for now.

Re: big issues with 5406 K.12.51 and ACLs

They opened a 2nd level case after quickly sending me a new Management Module (which didn't fix the issue) and I'm still waiting for an answer.

Tried even firmware K.12.53 too (dated 24/10/2007) and the bug I have is still there: if I delete last line of an ACL that is currently in use by a vlan, no matter if in/out/both, the switch crashes.
And brand new issues with LX/LC minigbics too! Minigbic rev. J4859C (latest) don't speak the same language as rev. J4859B (I have tens of those!), link stays down and nothing in the log.
