how to renew/empty ARP cache on 2524 ?

Hi all,

i just have changed a firewall that was plugged to one of my 2524 switch; and i now have strange network issues.

i didn't found a way to purge my arp cache in procurve 2524 menu...and i really suppose my problems come from arp...

is there a command line to do it ?

thanks

Re: how to renew/empty ARP cache on 2524 ?

"The ProCurve Switch 2524 has only one MAC-port address table for all VLANs as compared to the newer ones. Therefor the MAC entry in his table is toggling from VLAN to VLAN. You may try to newer ProCurve switches like the 2600 series."

Is this the case of you problem?

sorry, but i only have 1 default vlan.

i don't think my problem comes from here...

isn't there a command line to purge every existing "cache" on the 2524 ?

thanks

Re: how to renew/empty ARP cache on 2524 ?

You can do a 'clear arp' on the 2524, but since it's a layer 2 switch only it's not likely to make any difference.

This switch is only concerned with mac-addresses and as Sergej has pointed out the 2524 only has the single mac-address table which can be a problem in multiple VLAN environments.

Since this doesn't seem to apply for your setup, can you share some more detail on the issue that you're seeing?

Have you checked the port counters for any errors on the port the firewall is connected to?
