Re: howto connect 100MB Switches ?

Have you considered posting your question here - http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=pc_managed

No, regular "RJ45" patch cables won't work, and by the way, the RJ45 refers to the connector, not the cable. There are different types of patch cables with RJ45 connectors, so you need to learn more about basic networking before plunging in at the deep end.

You can daisy chain the switches using cross-over cables, however you'd be better off using the LVDS stacking cables to create a single stack.

Re: howto connect 100MB Switches ?

Hi Chris,
if you refer to a simple network with short lenght cables the answer is NO. UTP-8 cables can be used for 10 and 100 Mbs.
If you have a big building then answer is YES, it's better use STP-8 cables.
The difference is UTP are unshielded cables while STP (shielded twisted pair) are shielded cables.
If you have a big building it better certificate all cables so you are sure tehy works fine and can carry 100mbs signal.
