Hi,
We are getting 2 switches for our two locations that are seperated for about 100Km.
These are connected thru wdm network. Aside from getting switches which licenses do we need if any on these switches for the two sites to be connected thru these switches.
Routers are already in place that link these sites.
I'm not sure what information is needed in this post so if any please let me know I will provide whatever you need to help me out on this one.
Thanks!

Hello,
how should the switch be connected? FC over WDM or FCIP?
You need the Extended Fabric license for the switch. This license is needed of you extend the fabric over 10km.
Regards,
Patrick

Re: licensing on AM868A HP 8/24 Base 16-ports Enabled SAN Switch
This is going to be over wdm.
I don't understand why we would need the extended fabric license, because the way I understand this the switch only goes to the router and then exits on the other side. Doesn't the switch see this almost as if they are in the same rack?

Hello,
this is because the routers are transparent. You drive Fibre-Channel over WDM, so you need enough BB credits.
Regards,
Patrick
