loop-protect - based on what?

If you connect a switch that drops BPDU-packets, your HP won't be able to shut a port based on STP. Instead loop-protect might save your @ss. What exactly is this protection based on? Mac moves?

Re: loop-protect - based on what?

Hello,

loop protect sends out a proprietary layer 2 frame to a special Multicast MAC address. If the switch receives his own frame on any port, it will disable the related ports. You can use it in conjunction with BPDU protection on edge ports.

Cheers,
