manufactured date, age of switch

I have some 4000Ms, 4104GLs, 4108GLs, and 5304XLs.

Is there some way to tell (approx.) what year they were produced?

Thanks in advance!

Re: manufactured date, age of switch

Generally, the serial number of an HP product will include some indication of when it was made. There is no one format, but you can websearch.

Thank you for your reply. I have all the SNs. What exactly would I web search for?

You might search for warrantee check or verification.

Re: manufactured date, age of switch

Thanks for the reply. I never had any luck searching. I asked one of our vendor's ProCurve expert and got the following dates:

4000M 1999-2000 (timeframe)
4104GL 2003-2004
4108GL 2003-2004
5304XL 2004

Re: manufactured date, age of switch

I did a web search for "warranty verification site:hp.com" and the seventh hit was for:

http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/ewarranty/warrantyInput.do?admit=109447627+1265830125975+28353475

which used with the serial number of a procuve 2724 (J4897A). I am presuming the warrante start date, being related to the date of sale is reasonably close to the date of manufacture.

Worked great. Thanks for the "hand holding". Points assigned.
