mux 8 (A6748A) to modem

Hi there,

I have A6748A mux and I want ot connect modem to it. What kind cables I need.
my modem is RS-232 9 or 25 pins.
I find J3830A but it goes to female, I need male ?

Howdy,
Firstly do you have the 8 way "octopus" cable with the modem?
If yes, you then need the J3830A to convert from 10pin rj45 to db25 female - but this is proprietary HP cabling so you then get an rs232 null modem convertor ( to swap rx and tx) and to finish off a male-male (pins both sides) gender changer or cable and you should be able to plug into the back of your modem.
Did this only last week with a Multitech ZDX 56k modem and it worked a treat.
Had to load the kernel drivers for pci_mux & mux tty software from the applications cd #1
Used Kermit to test the modem.
