Re: new 1800 Fibre connection problems
I have just installed 4 x 1800-24G switches at a customers site, and have problems linking them to a 4108 using the following equipment:
1800-24G:
J4858B - HP ProCurve Gigabit-SX-LC Mini-GBIC
4108:
J4864A - HP ProCurve Switch gl Transceiver module
J4131B - HP ProCurve Gigabit-SX Transceiver
The problem was with the negotiation between the 4108 and the 1800.
When you install the Mini-GBIC into the 1800 the port sets itself to 1000FDX.
If you set the SX module in the 4108 to 1000FDX it drops the 1800, if you set the SX module to AUTO negotiation it brings the link back up.
