ping delay PC8000M

The ping to Switch from the AlphaServer DS20 ( no any process runing, no tasks on the server)
have responce usualy 1Ms, but every 50( approximatly) it coming with delay 40 or even 90 Ms.
Why?
And could we adjust it?
Could we avoid it big delay?

Re: ping delay PC8000M

The switches reply to ICMP traffic directed to their management interfaces as a low priority which is why you will get occasional spikes.

This is normal. On the newer switches they have a 'management-vlan' option which you can set. This will help prioritise the ping responses.

It's nothing to worry about, if you ping other devices on the network they should respond normally - switched traffic always comes first.
