problem while connecting lan card and ethernet switch via cable..

problem while connecting lan card and ethernet switch via cable..

i have installed intex lan card on my old pc.. the lan card has been installed succesfully, but the problem is:
whenever i connect the network cable( parallel) from my d-link 8 port switch to the rj-45 port on the intex lan card..( it behaves as if "Network cable is unplugged""...

can somebody help me out.....
