procurve switch configuration

can somebody say about this configuration option on switch system:
no spanning tree edge-port.
where port is trunk port
Is it just a suggestion for better spanning tree working ?

As best practice, you should use the above command on any switch-to-switch links. It will help prevent any brief flooding caused by an edge-port which immediately starts forwarding when it comes online.
