sFlow on 5400zl switches

sFlow on 5400zl switches

I have set up sFlow on a 5400zl switch with following commando:
sflow 2 destination X.X.X.X
sflow 2 polling H21-H22,K1-K3 20
sflow 2 sampling H21-H22 2000
sflow 2 sampling K1-K3 5000

H21-H22 are 1Gbit interface and K1-K3 are 10Gbit interface and the problem is that I got a lot of "dropped samples". can someone tell me how to config this in order to decrease the amount of "dropped samples". I tried to increase the sampling rate but it seems to be even worse!! can someone explain how this works, there is no information in zl manuals about this. Thanks in avance,

Re: sFlow on 5400zl switches

Stefan,

You need to decrease the sampling rate, not increase. Increasing means more samples.
If you use a tool like PCM+, it dynamically adjust the samples/skip-count so you get "meaningfull" data.

Re: sFlow on 5400zl switches

Hi Olaf

thanks for your help, I thought it has to be increased when I dropped samples. I will try to decrease instead of increase the value. I'm not using PCM+ in this case, I'm using WhatsUp and it's sFlow plugin so I guess I have to manually config it for best data collection.

Thanks Again,
