sun trunking & procurve 5406zl

I recently tried setting up Sun trunking between my Procurve 5406zl to my Sun V480, but was unsucessful. Does anyone know of such configuration? Please help.

Hi

From the 5406 Switch side, you have to Create the Trunk first that includes all the switchports connecting to your Sun V480, then you have to keep Vlan1 untagged and tag other Vlans because the V480 is tagg aware adapter if the Sun GigaSwift Ethernet adapter installed.

Ok, just to clarify. I have the v480 plugged in to a vlan other than vlan 1. I need to tag the trunk that is connecting to the v480. Is this correct?

Hi

- If you want this server to see and be accessed only from the vlan its connected to , then it has to be untagged to this vlan, in this case you just untag the port on 5406 to this vlan.

- If you want this server to handle and can access all other vlans, then it has to be Untagged to Vlan1 (or the default Vlan) and tagged to all other vlans.

Don't forget to assign points.
