switch loops

One of the employee in the office connected one patch cord back to another port of the switch.

Loop is created in the switch where port no 2 and port no 14 are connected by the same patch cable.

The total network was affected.

STP was alredy enabled on the switches but it didnt solve the loop problem.

Spanning-tree should have blocked it, what switch do you have and what version firmware version are you running? Can you reproduce this? Try again with the latest firmware maybe.

Alternatively, if your switch supports it you may also want to enable 'loop-protect' which is a new feature included in the latest software for most of the current ProCurve switches.
