switch status shows disabled
hi ,
when i type the "switchshow" command in an HP sw san 4/32 switch , i get the following display.
admin> switchshow
switchName: cftswitch1
switchType: 32.0
switchState: Offline
switchMode: Native
switchRole: Disabled
switchDomain: 191 (unconfirmed)
switchId: fffcbf
switchWwn: 10:00:00:05:1e:02:8d:53
zoning: OFF
switchBeacon: ON
Area Port Media Speed State
==============================
0 0 id N4 No_Sync Disabled
1 1 id N4 No_Sync Disabled
2 2 id N4 No_Sync Disabled
my question to all you folks is why is the state showing diabled ??
FYI version command gives the following details
admin> version
Kernel: 2.4.19
Fabric OS: v5.0.1b
Made on: Wed Aug 17 21:28:17 2005
Flash: Tue Apr 4 19:28:32 2006
BootProm: 4.5.2

Hi,
The ports may have been accidently disabled.
Try "Enabling" the ports and check with the
config again.

i think you cant enable the ports when the switchrole is diabled .

workaround is to disable POST by the command: diagDisablePost. The switch will skip POST and will come up enabled.
