"By default, the switches covered in this guide are 802.1Q VLAN-enabled and allow up to 256 static and dynamic VLANs. (The default static VLAN setting is 8)."
But the product Datasheet (3500yl/5400zl) document says:
"VLAN support and tagging: support complete
802.1Q standard and 2,048 VLANs simultaneously"
This seems a little confusing. Which one is it? Is anybody using more than 256 VLANs with ProCurve switches? Sharing your experience will be greately appreciated. (Points will be promptly assigned for all postings, as always).

Re: using more than 256 vlans on 3500yl/5400zl series?
Both statements are true.
I suggest you look at page 2-23 of the manual (ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/6200-5400-3500-Adv-Traff-Jan-06.pdf).
Regards,
Ralph

The product datasheet IS accurate and the correct number is 2048 as you mentioned.
Thanks for your reply, points have been assigned.
