vlc and multicast on 5406ZL premium
i'm trying to stream multicast data with vlc across vlans, my 5406zl has premium license and ip multicast-routing enabled.
i have 3 vlans defined on the 5406:
vlan 11 - 192.168.1.1/24 clients
vlan 12 - 192.168.2.1/24 clients
vlan 13 - 192.168.3.1/24 a couple of vlc streaming
router pim
bsr-candidate priority 100
rp-candidate
rp-candidate source-ip-vlan 13
rp-candidate group-prefix 224.0.0.0 240.0.0.0
rp-candidate group-prefix 239.0.0.0 255.0.0.0
rp-candidate hold-time 150
exit
vlan 11
ip pim-sparse
ip-addr any
exit
exit
vlan 12
ip pim-sparse
ip-addr any
exit
exit
vlan 13
ip pim-sparse
ip-addr any
exit
exit
receiving clients are on a number of procurve 2626 trunked to the 5406zl while streaming clients are on the 5406.
udp multicast data is streamed to 239.100.100.1:1234 but it seems like it cannot get past the 5406, clients on the 2626s cannot see the stream.
does anyone have a sample config?
thanks

Re: vlc and multicast on 5406ZL premium
Besides Jeff remark, there are problems with multicasting on 5406s. It might be the combination of certain modules/GBICs/ firmware version/load.

You may already have this so it might be easier if you posted up your full configs :)

Re: vlc and multicast on 5406ZL premium
I 'm sorry, I haven't.
This problem occurred at a site, where I was present for a firmware upgrade. Only I wasn't informed before or at that moment that the reason they were also upgrading, was a multicast problem. So no testing took place after each firmware upgrade. And problems had become worse.
HP and the firm I did the job for, solved this problem some how but the firmware has to be changed to really solve it.
Just mentioned this so you would know if you found any inexplicable problems.
