4800G (3com badged) Web access
Hi all,
I just picked up a 3Com badged 4800G 48 port and trying to web into it. I am in via the console port and have allocated a fixed ip address but been unable to get much further. When I try to SSH or Telnet in, the switch does not respond. Firmware is 5.2 rel 2221P25. It responds to a ping but a scan shows no open ports.
As I understand it, the following should give me telnet access (but it doesn't)
[4800g]system-view
[4800g]local-user admin
[4800g-luser-admin]service-type telnet
[4800g-luser-admin]authorization-attribute level 3
[4800g-luser-admin]password simple admin
Can anybody help please?

Re: 4800G (3com badged) Web access
Hi @mhlangensiepen !
I would add 'ssh' and 'terminal' in addition to the 'telnet' service-type, but you didn't mention the most important part - did you enable Telnet server, HTTP server and SSH server?
system-view
ip http enable
ip https enable
telnet server enable
public-key local create rsa
public-key local create dsa
ssh server enable
Hope this helps!

Re: 4800G (3com badged) Web access
Do you know what the latest firmware (& where I can get it) is for this device please.
I have 5500.EI_5.20.R2222P08 in a zip format. When I try and upload, it says not enough space.

Re: 4800G (3com badged) Web access
I am afraid it is not correct way to upgrade the switch. Please, check "Appendix B Upgrading software", "Upgrading software from the CLI " of this document - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00030083en_us
In two words, unpack .BIN and .BTM file and upload it to the switch. If .BTM is not present, skip that step. If the flash space is not enough, delete all other BIN files from the switch. While the switch is running the whole OS is in RAM, so there is no harm to delete the current image, just do not restart the device before uploading the new image, otherwise you will end up in the BootROM menu and will need to use it in order to upload the image.
