interconnect V1910(JE007A) and 1820(J9984A) on SFP fiber link
Hi everyone,
I have issues between v1910 and 1820 switches.
Last day, a v1910 switch gave up (can't boot : fan go on and then the switch reboot non stop).
This switch was used to connect 2 places ( place A and place B, v1910 on each place) with fiber on SFP port.
I replace the faulty v1910 with ├а 1820(J9984A) but the 2 switches can't connect : no ping between these and no networking either.
However i have traffic w/o errors between them on SFP port (i see it in the 'statistics' of the 1820).
The IP address plan and settings remains the same.
The V1910 in place B use a vlan and a trunk on SFP port but i'm not sure it's significant ?
I don't think it's an IP or routing issue but perhaps i'm wrong ?
I don't have the SFPs ref for the V1910 and the 1820 at the moment but, as i say earlier, there's traffic between these two.
I confess i'm a bit confused by this...
Any idea or clue about this issue ?
PS: i'm not very efficient in English and sorry about that.

Re: interconnect V1910(JE007A) and 1820(J9984A) on SFP fiber link
Here are the ref for the SFP transceivers :
_ On V1910 (the broken one and the on in place B) :
can't find the Jxxxx
just have SN: PH11070 Class1 21CFR1040.10LN#60 7/01
_ On the new 1820 :
J4858D Aruba 1G SFP LC SX 500m MMF XCVR
And here a screenshot of the statistics on 1820 SFP port (interface 49 and 50 (this one is between place A and Place C, same as the one in place B no networking) :
The statistics of the SFP port linked with the V1910 on 1820 switch

Re: interconnect V1910(JE007A) and 1820(J9984A) on SFP fiber link
Hello @Arkel ,
Is 1820 switch ports connecting to switch B & C tagged port?
Is 1820 acting as later 3 or layer 2 switch?
If layer 2 then what is the vlan towards v1910 switch?
Thanks!

Re: interconnect V1910(JE007A) and 1820(J9984A) on SFP fiber link
Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
Is 1820 switch ports connecting to switch B & C tagged port?
All 1820's ports use the default configuration.
The 1820's SFP ports are connecting to switch B & C SFP ports and these ports are trunks.
The IP Network is the same for all the switches (xxx.xxx.121.xxx/24).
Switch C is xxx.xxx.121..251.
Switch B is xxx.xxx.121..252.
And the 1820 is xxx.xxx.121..253.
Is 1820 acting as layer 3 or layer 2 switch?
Not sure about that. I can't find a setting mentionning 'Layer 2' or 'Layer 3'.
I presume it's acting as layer 2 switch (no routing).
If layer 2 then what is the vlan towards v1910 switch?
Like i said before, i use default configuration on the 1820 (no vlan except the default one vlan=1).
Thanks for your time.

Hello @Arkel ,
Is it possible to provide current running config from 1820switch and B or C switch?
Thanks!
