11.31 - filecache_max/min kernel parms

hello -
1. we are using 11.23 and i'm researching some 11.31 params. do the filecache_ parms w/ 11.31 replace the dbc__pct parms from 11.23?

as i understand it these filecache_ parms are new w/ 11.31...

2. also, could someone give me a description of what the "base_pagesize" 11.31 parm does? (i can't find that in the man pages)

thanks

(instead of "man pages" = that should say "documentation") :)

thanks shoghi - can you also give me a link where more of this type documentation is available (i.e. index to all tunable params) - had no idea they had papers for every kernel param

There are man pages for lots of them:

hi

h20338.www2.hp.com/hpux11i/downloads/Unifiedfilecache.pdf --- slide no. 17

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-60130/dbc_max_pct.5.html --- see the description

These tunables should not be modified. Attempting to tune any of the obsolete buffer cache tunables, bufcache_max_pct, bufpages, dbc_min_pct, dbc_max_pct, or nbuf results in an error.

Use the tunables filecache_max and filecache_min to set limits on the file cache. Note that, on a any given system, the optimum values of these two new tunables are not necessarily equivalent to the optimum values of the obsolete buffer cache tunable values in the older systems. You should first determine if the new default values yield acceptable performance on your system, before attempting to change the values of the new file cache tunables
