3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

Hi,

Can anyone help for following issue :

3 LUN presented to 3 Serveres ( HPUX 11i v2).All the system see all 3 LUN ( Because there is no SAN Zoning). Now how can I identify which PV is free and which PV is already used by another system? My storage is MSA 1000

Re: 3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

why all servers are seeing all 3, they should not unless is cluster.

Well you can use pvdisplay command it would show what VG it belong to.

if these are new LUNs they would not be having anything.

Re: 3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

Enable and configure SSP to prevent this!

Each server can only see its own LUN then.

Hope this helps!

Re: 3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

PVDISPLAY command output shows it is unused but real scenario the LUN already used in another server. So my question how can I identify which is really free which is not?

Re: 3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

Connect to each server and note down what server is using which lun. Then setup SSP!

Hope this helps!

Re: 3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

Is it PA or Itanium?
Are you sure you running pvdisply good, becuase it just read the disk data structure and nothing else it should show.

Re: 3 PV presented to 3 Serveres

Say you have one disk called c1t1d1

Then to check the disk is having dta or not

1) greate one group file for volume group
2) import the disk with volume group name

vgimport vgname c1t1di

3) activate volume group

4) Vgdiplsay -v newly created vg name will shoow if that disk is having any data or not
