APA question .

Hi Experts,

Below is the configuration details , that is currently configured on the system, and working normal. Os ver: 11.23

- I would like to know is it configured Active/Active or Active/Passive.
- How to figure out if it is active/active or active/passive.
- Is there anything wrong with this configuration.

Please advise,

Re: APA question .

Shalom,

APA is an active-active product. Your configuration appears to be such.

Check out the man page for nwmgr

For ways of checking your current configuration.

Also note, this product will not work without changes to switch configuration.

Re: APA question .

Where I work active/active or active/passive had to be done by the network team on the switch,so I'd say it depends on how your network team set up the ports.
For example I orginally had Manual mode set and requested a teamed connection but only found out after the fact that teamed meant active/passive. The next server I had to request LACP mode and worked with the network team to make sure the keys were the same on both the server and switch ports.

A quick way to find out if you have active/active or active/passive:
lanscan -q (to look at the ports on your aggregates)
glance -l (not only will your link aggregates be displayed but also the lan ports)
If you have active/active you should see statistics on all ports on your configured PPA's.
Sample of active/passive:
Idx Interface Type Rate In Rate Out Rate In Rate Out

Re: APA question .

Steven , and S.Ney, thanks much.

Steven,
If it is only active/active product then why the network team bother about saying it is configured with active/active and saying needs to change to active/passive.

S.Ney, thanks for the great tips:
Network team says current configuration is active/active and should be change to active/passive like they do for aix etherchannel and teaming:

As you mentioned:
If you have active/active you should see statistics on all ports on your configured PPA's.

yes I can see statistics on all ports , with glance -l

Also, I see different output for another server (server B), it says tunnel in lan900/901 section ,
And statistics on all the lan900/1 configured ports:

is this means it is active active.

- What needs to be done to make it active passive, Is there anything needs to be change in apaconf file, or all needs to be done by network team. at switch level?

Thanks.

Q: what kind of keys you are referring here..

Thanks,
