About Unix virtuaization

We have a Data Warehouse&Oracle ASM environment. It is running on 4 RAC RX4640 nodes. As data is growing, computing is reaching out the capacity, so, we are thinking to upgrade/replace the current environment. There are no major issues with current environment.

IBM power 7 system & LPAR Virtualization now comes on the table for the future choice to possibly replace HP systems. One of reasons is because of it's scalability, flexibility and presentation seems impressive.

Some does have concerns about the virtualization, and if it is safe to adopt it for this critical application? The concern also include if we should migrate the applications off from a familiar HP platform to a new and inexperienced IBM platform for us?

I would appreciate your inputs.

Hi Hanry:

And you're asking that in an HP forum!?! I'd bet you will hear a deafening "no". Then go ask the same in an IBM forum, and listen for "yes" at the same decibel level.

and according to some rumors on the net say there is more to come soon ...

Hope this helps!
