Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on Itanium HPUX 11iv2

Hi,

Has any one been able to use Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 on Itanium/HP-UX 11iv2?

I did everything by the book, but it's not working:

# ./acroread
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't find path for shared library: libgdk_pixbuf_xlib-2.0.sl
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
ARIES32: Core file for PA32 application saved to /opt/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/bin/core.acroread
Abort(coredump)

sorry to see that my answer didn't really help answer your question.

Please re-read my first post.
I suspect you have a 32bit PA-RISC version of the software and are trying to run it on a Itanium 64bit.
32bit PA-RISC code will not run on Itanium 64bit, it means complete rebuilt of libs etc.
The link you downloaded from spcifically states "PA-RISC" !

Hi Peter,

I downloaded the only version available for HPUX, I was confused because it mentioned HP-UX11iv2 and I thought this was for Itanium, but HPUX11iv2 also runs on PA-RISC, right? (We have more than 100 PA-RISC servers running HP-UX11i, but this is my first Itanium box..)

So, the conclusion is that Acrobat Reader is not available for Itanium?

correct! As far as I know there is no itanium version downloadable. The pre-reqs at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrsystemreqs.html#708hp specify PA-8800 as minimum (i.e PA-RISC). Some PA-RISC programs can be re-compiled with the correct libraries, but there is no guarantee that the code will work!
